Céad míle fáilte! (hundred thousand welcomes)

My name is Laddie Guy Shane. I am the 2016 Arizona Friends of Saint Patrick Young Ambassador and I am so excited to share this adventure with you. I am a 23-years-old currently working in the Office of Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and a recent graduate of Arizona State University. I received my BS in Political Science and History, emphasizing in Civic Education. During my years at ASU I worked a full time job which had a real impact on me and has created a great and stable career out of the gate into the real world out of school.

In 2012, I worked for the Arizona Republican Party as an Office Manager and helping organize door knocking and call centers across Arizona. In 2014, I had the honor as serving as Attorney General Mark Brnovich's Field Director for his successful campaign and had a blast traveling across Arizona and talking and learning about many issues like human trafficking and other crimes praying on the most vulnerable in society.

Since January 2015, I have served as the Deputy Director of Constituent Affairs for Arizona Governor Ducey and have loved every minute. I oversee all boards and commissions appointments for the Governor as well as the Constituent services for the office. We process thousands of request a week ranging from proclamations to casework and I love every part of it.

I am extremely excited to be traveling to Northern Ireland for a two-week internship opportunity through the Saint Patrick Centre in Downpatrick. This program has seen several years of young representatives coming to Northern Ireland with the hope of promoting a greater understanding of the shared cultural heritage of Northern Ireland in North America amongst those aged 20-25. Arizona has seen five young ladies off to Northern Ireland - Sarah, Kelsey, Audrey and Ciara. I'm the first Guy of the bunch!

While I don't know yet who I will be interning with, I do know that I am setting out on the adventure of a lifetime. Ireland has such an amazing history and culture, and I am thrilled to learn more about Northern Ireland's history, culture and possibilities.

I hope to share my adventures with you through this blog and I hope it will be entertaining and funny for you all!

and off we go,

Laddie Guy
